Hello!
My name is Jaime Baskin and I am an IT consultant-gone-photographer. My work includes but is not limited to fashion, swimwear, fitness, and boudoir. I'm available for advertising and editorial assignments for brands as well as portfolio work for established and new models.
I have always been fascinated with the photographer’s ability to freeze time with an image. They determine the perspective for the viewer with subtle things like framing, exposure, contrast, angle, and color. The moments captured in an image are frozen to the sands of time and that expression of the moment transcends reality. Although I was passionate about photography from a young age, my family didn’t have a lot of money growing up, so I didn’t have the opportunity to purchase a camera or film to shoot with, let alone print my photos. Since money was tight, I pursued the more secure path of education in IT instead and allowed my creative side to take a back seat. As I got older and worked in IT for a while I realized creativity and self-expression were not something you could really do in that field. IT is very cookie cutter and by-the-book, which is fine for some but not for me. I needed to allow my creativity to shine through and express myself. Photography has allowed me to embrace that creative part of me that I wasn’t able to earlier in life.
Although photography is more my speed, my IT background has complimented my photography career as it’s made me an organized and tech-savvy photographer. A photoshoot with me is one that I have planned ahead for and coordinated the details of, so when I say that I will do something, you can be confident that I will follow through. Weather-permitting, I prefer to shoot outside with off-camera flash, but I also shoot portraits in my home studio and will do on-site shoots at indoor locations if it is too cold outside. My after shoot processes are streamlined so that I can get your images delivered to you in a timely manner. It is my belief that planning ahead is exactly what allows there to be room to get creative and play around during photoshoots! When the logistics have been taken care of, we get to focus on the fun part. I always bring a creative vision to the shoot including poses, locations, and outfit ideas, but I enjoy collaborating and welcome ideas from the models I work with too. My priority as a photographer is to ensure that the people I shoot with feel comfortable and like they can express themselves during our photoshoots together!
Much like the outdoor landscapes that I enjoy shooting in, every person has their own unique beauty both inside and out, and my mission as a photographer is to capture it rather than alter it. My editing style includes enhancing vibrant colors and smoothing textures, but I will not photoshop a model’s features in such a way that it changes them unless it is requested by the model. My aim is to create epic images that inspire others, catching their eye with the striking, edgier side of beauty in people and nature. I want my photos to elicit a reaction and, in a world where it’s easy to just keep scrolling, make people do a second take. Viewers can immerse themselves in my photos. The longer they study the image, the more they will notice.
